                            Wang, Ziyu was born in Beijing, P. R. China, on December 28, 1954. He received the B.S. degree in engineering from Chengdu Institute of Radio Engineering, in 1982 and the M.S. degree in engineering from The University of Electronic Science & Technology of China (UESTC), in 1985.
From 1985 to 1994, he had been employed at the UESTC as a lecturer and an associate professor. From 1989 to 1990, he had been a visiting researcher of Department of Electronics & Electrical Engineering, the University of Leeds. He had been engaged in investigations of millimeter-wave devices, circuits and systems at the UESTC and the University of Leeds. 
Since 1994, he has been working at Peking University as an associate professor and a professor. His primary interests have been in optical fiber communication systems, high bit rate optical transmitters and optical receivers, mode-locked fiber ring laser, optical logic devices, optic fiber devices and fiber optic gyroscopes.
